Riverview offers beautifully appointed guest rooms with ensuite baths. The preferred number of guests per week is four couples providing them with personalized kiwi hospitality for which New Zealand is so well known.
Robin and John Gemmell are your hosts and have owned and operated this lodge for over twenty years now. We will continue to utilize guides who are members of the New Zealand Professional Fishing Guides Association for our clients while staying at Riverview.
The trout average around five pounds with double-digit sized fish caught each season, with the season beginning on October 1st and ending the end of April. The guides we use are experienced, knowledgeable and professional. All have a lifetime of local knowledge, and are enthusiastic and passionate about the local environment and conservation of this delicate fishery. Whether it's basic casting instruction, or refined fly presentation techniques, they enjoy sharing their knowledge of all aspects of fly fishing with all anglers, from complete beginners to seasoned veterans.
The lodge employs experienced European trained chefs, who specialize in local New Zealand cuisine, with an emphasis on game for those who enjoy it. Nothing is a problem to prepare and dietary requirements are easily accommodated by prior arrangement. Each evening complimentary pre-dinner drinks of New Zealand beer and wine are offered, followed by a three-course dinner, equal to any of the finest restaurants in New Zealand
For anglers traveling with non-fishing partners, there are plenty of activities in the area from which to choose. The thermal pools at Hanmer Springs is a great place to go for spa treatments followed by a soak in the hot pools overlooking the mountains. There is also golfing, horseback riding, hiking, jet boating, bungy jumping and of course, shopping.
